It has been quite a while since our last blog post. Things have been moving along at quite a clip, resulting in an iOS release for The Boondock Saints Mobile Game and Sega’s ChuChu Rocket! for the iPad and iPhone/iPod touch.

The 1.1 update to ChuChu Rocket! just went live, and it adds a TON of new features!

Full online multiplayer via GameCenter. You can invite your friends to play against or you can find another player at random to play against.

Full Retina display support (and it looks amazing!) We have also upgraded the iPad graphics to full High-Def as well!

100 new Puzzle levels have also been added. The total number of levels is now over 400!

User Interface modifications have been made: you didn’t like the original “two-tap” menu items, so we changed it! That’s the beauty of updates: we can change what you don’t like. :)

So as you can see, v1.1 is a HUGE improvement to gameplay and replayability and just in time for the winter break!

Happy Holidays from everyone at Binary Hammer!

Yes, you read that right! 3 guys… 24 hours.

Starting with just a skeleton idea; the three of us will implement a complete game from nothing, to full submission to the AppStore within 24 hours.

The fun begins on Saturday, March 6th at 9:00am EST.

Watch it all unfold LIVE right before your eyes by following our Blog at www.creature24.com during the event. Each of us will be posting updates on our progress throughout the day. You’ll be able to view sketches, graphics and screenshots as and when they’re made, listen to sound effects and music as they’re created, and comment on any post that we make on the site.

It’s not just fun for us though… :)

YOU (yes, YOU!) can participate in the process too! Simply by following @Creature24hr on Twitter your Twitter name will be included in the Fan Wall shown within the game! We’ll also be asking for input and ideas on specific topics throughout the event; so something YOU suggest could directly make it into the game!

We will also be looking for 10 AdHoc testers to look at builds and provide feedback to us; all testers will be listed in the in-game credits! Details will be posted on the Blog during the event.

As an added bonus, we are currently working on obtaining licenses for some great software giveaways! Not only will you see us talking about the software we’re using, YOU can also become eligible to win a license for that software! If you’re an aspiring iPhone/iPod touch developer in any capacity, now’s your chance to get some super Mac applications for free! Pretty soon you’ll be doing your own 24-hour project! More details will appear on the Blog during the week leading up to the event, so stop by to see what’s new.

Do you think we can do it? Go to www.creature24.com on March 6th starting at 9:00am EST and find out! It’ll be live so anything goes! Stop by to lend your support by making comments to our posts! And who knows? You might even walk away with some pretty slick software to help you develop your own games, or get to see one of your ideas make it into the game itself!

See you there!

Binary Hammer, LLC, a recent Samsung/Handmark Global Venture Funding recipient, in a joint effort with Javira, today announced their intent to develop polyhedra XL for the Apple iPad.

Once again Binary Hammer, LLC and Javira join forces to bring their iPhone game
<purewhite>polyhedra</purewhite> –
<purewhite>nominated for several gaming awards</purewhite> – to the Apple iPad in a new and expanded version,
<purewhite>polyhedra XL</purewhite>.

New features include:

•	4 new Zones: triangles, parallelograms, trapezoids, and diamonds. Each one with its own newly-composed soundtrack.

•	New gameplay features such as reverse- and zero gravity, and obstacles give the players a real challenge!

•	Graphical enhancements like particles and colored gems are also planned.

“We are thrilled to include the iPad in our future plans,” said Bob Koon, President and Tech. Director for Binary Hammer. “The extra-large screen of the iPad and bright, vivid colors of polyhedra make it an excellent way to bring the challenging, physics-based experience to more people. We have found an excellent partner with Javira and welcome every opportunity to continue our collaboration.”

Polyhedra was recently a featured game in the AppVent Calendar on Dec. 7th. All we can say is that it was a tremendous success! It was downloaded over 65,000 times! You guys rock! To celebrate that success,
<purewhite>we have decided to keep the price at just 0.99</purewhite> until further notice. Enjoy!

It has come to our attention (via an App Store reviewer in the US) that there are some major issues in v1.1.2 of Polyhedra. We have submitted v1.1.3 to the App Store that addresses these problems, but we wanted to describe them to you in a bit more detail.

The first problem that was fixed is certainly the most severe. Here is what the reviewer said about it:

The bug: for some reason, on the last zone, whenever I close the app and continue from where I left off, my score is added to the number of balls I have.

We have fixed this problem in a way that preserves you current save game data. The only work-around until the update is released is to
<purewhite>not save your game while playing in the Medley Zone</purewhite>.

The next most severe issue that was fixed has to do with the fill percentage calculation. Here is what the same reviewer said about this:

While toying with my infinite lives, I tried filling the level with polygons as small as possible. This is where bug #2 showed up: the area of each polygon is rounded to the nearest percent, and the total area covered is just the sum of these numbers. I managed to fill about 95% of the screen, but it told me I had only filled 30% because most of the polygons were counted as zero.

Once again the reviewer is exactly correct. The calculation was erroneously rounding to the nearest whole percent. This was unintentional, but has some severe gameplay impact as the reviewer pointed out. Unfortunately, there is no work-around for this issue other than to make your shapes as large as you can.

We appreciate your patience while waiting for the v1.1.3 update to come online. We will certainly do everything we can to speed up the process.

We apologize for any inconvenience these gameplay issues have caused.

The Polyhedra Team @ Binary Hammer

We are absolutely delighted to announce that Polyhedra is the featured Appvent Calendar game for today (Dec. 7th)!

Johannes of Blacksmith Games informed us that we were the first developer to sign up for the promotion. We instantly thought this was an excellent idea and we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to be involved in such a great event. We just wanted to be involved in a promotion with other like-minded developers to help spread some holiday cheer this season. What better way to do that then to provide a free game a day for the run up to Christmas?

Please help us extend our sincerest thank you to Blacksmith Games for coordinating such a fantastic event. We would also like you to give your (unbelievable!) support to the other great developers that are participating in the promotion by downloading their games each day, checking out their website, and giving them a big thank you (or just saying Hi!) on Twitter or Facebook or the social networking flavor of your choice. :)

Happy Holidays, everyone! Thank you for making the Appvent Calendar such an overwhelming success!

– Everyone @ Binary Hammer
